How to receive 100,000yen COVID-19 payment from Japanese government?

On April, the Japanese government announced that all residents of Japan will receive a payment of 100,000 yen due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Who is eligible?
Any legal resident of Japan will receive it. Legal resident means the people who resistered in a Basic Resident Register(住民基本台帳) on April 27.
Foreign people with Short Term VISA(短期滞在) who doesn’t have resident card of Japan can not receive the payment. But most foreign residents basically qualify for receiving the payment.

How do I apply?
An application form will be mailed by the city where you live. Once you get the form, fill it out and send it back to the city. Only head of household can apply for their family.
If you have a My Number card, you have another option. You can also apply online through the government website.
Once your applying would be accepted, 100,000 cash will be transferred to your personal account.

When do I get money?
It depends on cities. Applicants will start receiving the payment in May at the earliest.

Beware of Fraud
The government expects there would be some scams related to the payment. When you get a suspicious phone calls or emails requesting bank account pin numbers and other information.
Don’t answer it.
