Revised guidelines for applying for permanent residence in Japan
When applying for a permanent residence permit, there is a requirement that “for over 5 years of living in Japan for over 10 years, have qualifications for work etc.” According to a presentation from the Immigration and Residence Management Agency on May 31, the guidelines clearly stated that this “five years or more” does not include technical training or the new status of residence status: Specific Skill No. 1.
Care should be taken when considering permanent residence application in the future.
